Controversy Over Missouri Stimulus Package Funds
JEFFERSON CITY - Governor Jay Nixon is all for the federal stimulus package, but his second in command has reservations.
Wednesday morning Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder held a press conference to say he’s worried about the money going toward the state’s unemployment compensation laws.
Kinder says in order to get stimulus money, the state would have to change existing compensation laws, and open up unemployment benefits to people not eligible under the current state law. This new plan would include people who are at fault for losing their job and temporary workers.
