Feeding the Hungry
HOLTS SUMMIT- In a time where many people are losing jobs, some Mid-Missourians are turning to soup kitchens for a hot meal.
The Holts Summit Soup Kitchen opened back in September of 2008. Volunteers serve the hungry every Thursday night from 5-6 pm. The kitchen averaged 30-40 people in the first few weeks. However, just 5 months later, those numbers have dropped off. Now, 15-20 people come for the free meals.
One volunteer hopes that the turnout will get back to it’s original size.
